A man is lucky to be alive after coming under attack from robbers.

A man is lucky to be alive after coming under attack from robbers in Kontagora area of Niger state. According to reports, the man's throat was slit by the armed attackers in the course of the robbery. 

He survived the attack and was rushed to the hospital for treatment where he is currently recuperating.

Another man who was attacked by the same robbers was unlucky as he reportedly died after being rushed to the hospital.

When he entered the cellar where the potatoes were stored, he collapsed and died. His wife and son went to check what had happened to him, they also collapsed and died. Maria’s 68-year-old grandmother called for help, but she entered the cellar before any help could arrive. She was met with the same fate; she collapsed and died. The family made the mistake of storing their potatoes in their enclosed cellar and allowing them to decompose. Potatoes contain solanine, a glycoalkaloid that can be very toxic. As the potatoes decayed, they released toxic level of the glycoalkaloid that shut down their nervous system when they entered the cellar.
