Mel responded in Bugs voice: "Whats up Doc?" They used this technique to lead him out of his coma. Mel Blanc, known as "The Man of a Thousand Voices," tells a story about persistence. He became a well known voice actor, comedian, and radio personality who provided the voices for iconic cartoon characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Porky Pig during the Golden Age of American animation. China executed two milk producers on Tuesday for selling more than three million pounds of contaminated milk products in connection with a food-safety scandal that killed six infants, shocking the country last year   In 2008, a Chinese milk company intentionally tainted baby formula powder so they could pass quality control tests. At least six infants died and hundreds of thousands more got sick. This is milk producer and trader Geng Jinping begging for forgiveness during his trial. He was executed in 2009. Nineteen others have been jailed in connection with the case, which involved deliberately contaminating milk with melamine, a chemical used in manufacturing plastics and fertilisers. Seven horses of the Queen's Household Cavalry lie dead after the IRA detonated a nail bomb, 1982 Th aftermath of the Hyde Park bombing which killed four soldiers, 1982. The Hyde Park and Regent’s Park bombings were one of the worst IRA atrocities on the British mainland, killing 11 soldiers and seven horses and leaving dozens injured. The bombs were detonated just a couple of hours apart on July 20, 1982, and timed to cause maximum casualties. The military casualties were quickly removed. But long-range camera lenses captured, in dreadful detail, the aftermath with the shattered remains of the car bomb surrounded by dead horses. Part of the power of the image is that it shows how indiscriminate the attack was. The soldiers were in general the primary target, but the terrorists were willing to accept whatever collateral damage came with them – including these horses. The dead and dying horses reinforce the brutality of the act, and thus the power of the image. The devices were ...

German soldiers take boots and other equipment from dead American soldiers at a crossroads in Belgium, 1944 These A merican soldiers probably got ambushed by German machine guns when they were attempting a routine street crossing at the wrong time. They’re at a crossroads, a good spot to ambush an advancing army. This photo is taken during the early hours of the Battle of the Bulge, 1944. Pen marks indicate things Army censors redacted after the film was captured. The censorship shown on the photo was just an initial note that publishers would more thoroughly take out. They didn’t want people to be able to identify where the picture was taken. That’s why they were crossing out only the things that would identify the spot, even religious markings (the crucifix in the corner of the image). It was likely the result of routine censorship. For the Battle of the Bulge, the best units and equipment of the German military were concentrated for the push to the West. The battle was a las...

Their lives took a dramatic turn when they were plucked from a Virginia farm and thrust into the bright lights of the circus world. Their story is one of uniqueness, exploitation, and, ultimately, liberation. George and Willie Muse, the eldest of five siblings, were born to Harriett Muse in the small community of Truevine on the outskirts of Roanoke, Virginia. Born with albinism, a genetic condition that bestowed upon them pale skin, white hair, and striking blue eyes, they possessed features that set them apart from their peers. In addition to albinism, both boys also had nystagmus, a common occurrence with albinism that affected their vision. Their struggles with light sensitivity began so early that by the ages of six and nin...
