Scientists Baffled By Shark That Defies Rules Of Survival To Walk On Land  Epaulette sharks, found in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, are able 'walk' on land by shuffling forward with their fins - and are able to survive for up to two hours without oxygen Ground-breaking new research has found a shark that “breaks all the rules for survival”. In a statement, Florida Atlantic University said young epaulette sharks are able to walk out of water using their fins - and can also endure around two hours without any oxygen. This is a product of “challenging environmental conditions”, according to researchers. Their habitat - Southern Australia’s Great Barrier Reef - can sometimes be completely isolated by the outgoing tide. The sharks therefore use their paddle-shaped fins to “manoeuvre into small reef crevices to avoid aerial and aquatic predators.” Scientists are now investigating how these walking abilities change in an epaulette shark’s early development. Ukraine war: Wave of strikes hit major cities including Kyiv

Image
Russia has launched massive missile strikes across Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv, causing power and water outages, Ukrainian officials say. At least two blasts were reported in Kyiv. One resident told the BBC his district was now without electricity. In the north-eastern city of Kharkiv, critical infrastructure facilities were hit, the local authorities said. The strikes come after Russia blamed Ukraine for a drone attack on its Black Sea Fleet in the annexed Crimea. On Monday, missile strikes were also reported in the central Vinnytsia region, as well as Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia in the south-east, and Lviv in western Ukraine. Ukraine's Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat told Ukrainian TV that Russia had used its strategic bombers to carry out the attack. Andriy Yerkmak, the head of President Volodymyr Zelensky's office, said that "Russian losers are continuing to fight against peaceful objects". On Saturday, one Russian warship was

Giant snake v killer croc!: Extremely rare battle between caiman and an anaconda is caught on camera as snake attempts to crush reptile but is fought off Remarkable pictures have captured an extremely rare battle between a caiman and an anaconda in Brazil. The snake wrapped itself around the caiman in what turned out to be a dramatic 40-minute fight for survival on the banks of the Cuiabá River. The caiman desperately attempted to free itself as the anaconda constricted itself more and more, with the giant reptile sinking its teeth into the snake. But the brutal fight eventually ended in a draw after the caiman fought off its attacker. Wildlife photographer Kim Sullivan, from Indiana, said: 'The caiman went under [the water]. I could see the tip of the anaconda's nose struggling to get air. The caiman came up still constricted by the snake and then went down again for a long time. This time it came back up

US Scientist Becomes Immune To Snake Venom After Allowing Deadly Snakes Bite Him

Image
Tim Friede has inflicted himself with more than 200 bites from snakes that could kill within minutes in bid to help develop life-saving vaccines. A scientist claims he's 'immune to venom' after allowing himself to be bitten by the world's deadliest snakes hundreds of times. He claims he is the only person in the world who could now survive back-to-back snake bites. The 39-year-old has even taken on a sub-Saharan Black Mamba, which is widely considered the 'world's deadliest snake', with a bite that could result in a very painful death within 15 minutes. Speaking to The Wizard of Odd TV at his home in Du Lac, Wisconsin, Tim allows a Black Mamba snake to bite him three times in his finger and once into his arm, which causes immediate swelling as the deadly poison is injected directly into his bloodstream. Comparing the pain sensation to like 'being struck with a hammer', Tim winces at the relentless throbbing f

100-million-year-old “river Monster” Discovered In The Sahara (photos)

Image
The first ever evidence of a dinosaur which swam, lived and hunted underwater has been discovered in the now-barren wilderness of the Saharan desert. But 100 million years ago this region would have been a lush oasis interspersed with rivers and waterways teeming with life. And lurking beneath the surface, sitting atop the entire food chain, was a fearsome aquatic dinosaur. The river monster — called Spinosaurus aegyptiacus — powered through the water with a fin-like tail and captured slippery prey with six-inch long conical teeth. A fossilised tail of a juvenile of the species, which belongs to the therepod group, the same as the T-rex, was found in modern-day Morocco. Adults are known to reach up to 50ft long and weigh up to 20 tonnes but this specimen had yet to reach its full size, measuring 35ft from snout to tail and weighing around four tonnes.

330-Million-Year-Old Shark's Head Fossilized In Kentucky Cave Found By Scientist

Image
Kentucky's Mammoth Cave National Park is a long way from the ocean, but newly discovered fossils suggest the area was once teeming with sharks. Scientists have identified the remains of 15 to 20 different species of sharks deep in the cave, including part of the head of a great white-sized monster that's partially protruding from a wall, paleontolo The sharks lived about 330 million years ago in what is known as the Late Mississippian geologic time period, when much of North America was covered by oceans. When they died, their remains were encased in sediment that eventually became the limestone where the cave formed. "There's hardly ever any any record at all of sharks teeth coming from these rocks. So that was exciting, Hodnett sad. "So this is a brand new record of sharks from a particular layer of time." Mammoth Cave scientists Rick Olson and Rick Toomey were mapping a remote part of the cave when they started seeing shark fossils, according to Vincent Sa

Scientist Exterminate 5 Million Rats in Antarctic Island

Image
South Georgia Island near Antarctica is now teeming with native wildlife, thanks to an effort to remove invasive rats that had been devouring birds. South Georgia, a remote island off the tip of Antarctica, is teeming with penguins, seals, rare birds and — for about 250 years — millions of rats. atOptions = { 'key' : 'd293480f4d8ad0b4c0d1c43a92c7648a', 'format' : 'iframe', 'height' : 50, 'width' : 320, 'params' : {} }; document.write(' '); > But now, after the world’s largest rodent eradication project, the island is rat-free. The decade-long project was led by the Scottish charity South Georgia Heritage Trust. Over 10 years, members of “Team Rat” dropped rat poison from helicopters and used three rodent detection dogs to rid the British island of rats that had been devastating the wildlife. Pictures Of Rock With Human Face In Kwara Mafari Discovers a New Nature in Kwara

Image
In our quest to explore the world, capture it's beauty, and showcase life through the lens; nature came to us in a form we recognize. A form in which we exist. On a tour to Fulani settlement in a small town in Asa LGA, Kwara state - something unexpected captured our attention. Alone in the wild, stood the phenomenon - a rock with a human face. This beautiful piece of nature left us with admiration. A feeling that we're becoming accustomed to as we continue to explore. The event that led to the discovery of nature was astonishing. On our way to the settlement, our lead car got stuck in a stone and couldn't move either front or backward, in our effort to pull out the car, some of our colleagues went on looking for something, possibly stone to be used in pulling out the car, surprisingly they encountered the unknown but beautiful creature-- at first, some were scared of coming close to it. It looks scary in its entirety, plus

Kenyans Rent Out Their Wives To Tourists Because Of Hard Times

Image
Poverty along the Kenyan Coast is now forcing residents to rent out their spouses to rich tourists for some income, it has emerged. To beat the rising levels of poverty, some Kenyans have been handing over their wives or husbands to the tourists who want a good time before reuniting with them after the job. Among the persons already in the job is James Kimani, a tour guide, who says that he has been renting his wife out for such since August 2018, in pursuit for that extra coin. He says that it began when a tourist asked for his help to get a Kenyan woman with whom he was to spend his time with in Kenya, and due to the poverty, he handed over his wife. However, he says, he had to pass her out as his sister to make her acceptable to the man. “Yes, I have a nice, bubbly woman. She is dark-skinned, well endowed and naughty. She is my younger sister, very single and well behaved. I can bring her tomorrow,” he reportedly told the white man. He says that they are sti

This was announced in an official statement on the magazine website on Tuesday. Festival:80,000 Bare-breasted Virgins Dance Nak3d For Swaziland's Rich King

Image
It might seem odd to outsiders, but the best way to celebrate chastity for King Mswati III of Swaziland is to watch thousands of young women and girls – all of them virgins – dance topless. Such is the Umhlanga Reed Dance, an annual rite that sees girls as young as five dance, chant and lay reeds at the feet of Mswati and the Queen Mother. “I’m proud to be Swazi and to be a virgin. We are here to show unity with the king and with each other,” participant Gcebine Dlamini, 18, told Reuters. This year’s Umhlanga featured 80,000 “maidens,” the Swazi Observer said. Among the special guests included Mandla Mandela, Nelson Mandela’s grandson. In the past, the king has used the reed dance to select a new bride. The songs performed included “I am a virgin, please come and inspect whether I am still pure,” and “We do not want political parties in Swaziland,” the Observer said. That last one might be in reference to Mswati’s controversial reign. He’s consi

Couple Have Unclad Wedding Wearing Just A Veil And A Bow Tie

Image
A bride and her groom got married completely nak*d, except for a veil on the bride's head and a bow tie around the groom's neck. Anca Arsene, 29, and her now-husband Valentine, 34, are naturists and have been so for a long time. So they decided to have a nak*d wedding. They got married on the Italian island of Sardinia. The wedding was officiated by a nak*d celebrant. Just two friends were invited to the ceremony – Vlad, who was ordained just so he could marry the couple, and Andrea, the bridesmaid. The bride simply wore a veil and jewellery, while the groom threw on a bow tie. The couple say they plan to have another more conventional marriage ceremony later in the year for their friends and family who weren't invited for their naked wedding because they wouldn’t have felt comfortable about nudity.

Today is the saddest day of my life.

Image
As a doctor, I have treated so many pregnant women in labor and whenever I am in the delivery room, I always pray to God to bless all the babies' mothers. The pain women go through in the delivery room is indescribable and that doesn't include the 9 months they spent carrying the baby. They go through a lot just to give birth to a new life. Today I cried bitterly because I lost a woman. We don't pray for things like this to happen, but sometimes God may have other plans. Why is this woman's case so painful? She had been sterile for 14 years! We have tried IVF (in-vitro fertilization) and so many methods known to mankind; the woman has been through a lot. Finally, she had just gotten pregnant despite having an ovarian cyst and a huge load of fibroids. Yes, she got pregnant. Her fibroid started to melt away and everything was fine, After 9 months, it was time! Her husband rushed her to the hospital and quickly I left everything I was doing and took care o
