The earthquake that occurred in Japan with a magnitude of 9.1 was on March 11, 2011. This devastating event, also known as the Great East Japan Earthquake or the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, caused widespread damage and triggered a massive tsunami that led to a nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.



The Great Hanshin Earthquake Disaster of 1995 was one of the worst in Japan's history, claiming the lives of over 6,400 people, making more than 45,000 people homeless, and causing more than $100 billion in damages.
